Rat Race Records was born out of a simple idea: slow down, drop the noise, and reconnect with albums that actually matter.

I'm Jay - a lifelong classic-rock tragic, a full-time worker, a husband and dad, and someone who believes that music should feel personal.  Rat Race Records isn't a warehouse, a hype machine, or a flipper's playground.  It's a tiny, curated vinyl store built with intention, patience. and a deep love for the records that shaped generations.

This isn't about chasing trends.  It's about celebrating cornerstone albums - the ones you build a collection around.  The ones you reach for on a Sunday afternoon.  The ones your parents played in the car.  The ones that still hit you in the chest decades later.

Every record here is chosen deliberately.  Every used copy is cleaned, graded, and treated with respect.  Every new title is something I genuinely believe belongs in a great collection.

I don't stock everything.

I stock the right things.

Rat Race Records is for people who want quality over quantity.  For people who care about the ritual - sliding the record out of its sleeve, dropping the needle, sitting with the album from start to finish.  For people who want a store that feels human, not algorithmic.

This is a one-person operation, run late at night after the kids are asleep and early in the morning before work.  It's small by design.  That's the charm.  That's the point.
